The winery is situated in Marlborough, New Zealand’s Premier Wine Region, at the northern end of the South Island. Marlborough, now world famous for its production of Sauvignon Blanc and other cool climate varieties, is characterised by its well-drained stony soils, a long growing season with warm sunny days and cool nights.
The first vines were planted in 1989 and Omaka Springs Estates was established in 1992 by Geoff and Robina Jensen who, along with winemaker Ian Marchant, draw on 178 acres of estate vineyards in the Omaka Valley to produce premium quality wine at affordable prices. These wines have a proven track record with numerous awards and significant accolades from internationally recognised wine publications.
